Follow This Guide To Prepare For Your Appointment

We're so happy that you made an appointment at Gulf Coast Sleep Center. You've taken the first step to diagnosing potential sleep issues.

To help make your stay with us a smooth process please follow the instructions below. There are some things you'll need to bring as well as some things you'll want to make sure you do before arriving!

Upon Arriving

Because your sleep study is conducted at night you’ll need someone to escort you into the building. Please do the follow when you arrive.

When you arrive for your scheduled sleep study please call this number and speak with the technologist on duty. They will send someone out to escort you into the building.

Please Bring

Identification & Insurance

A valid government issued picture ID and up to date insurance cards. If you don't have a physical copy of your insurance card please make sure you can access a digital copy on your insurers website or iPhone App.

Medication List

A list of all current medications. Make sure you write down the dosage and frequency of each one.

Sleep Clothes

A set of appropriate and comfortable clothes to sleep in. Preferably pajamas with a separate top and bottom. A pair of shorts and a shirt work best! No nightgowns, please.

Personal Toiletries

Personal hygiene items that you need on a nightly basis. Things like a toothbrush, toothpaste, etc. Don't forget things like contact cases, contact solution, feminine hygiene products, etc.

Reading Glasses

If you need reading glasses or have any other assistive devices that help you with sight, hearing, or mobility please bring these things.

Diabetic Supplies

If you are diabetic bring all necessary items and medications. Don't forget to include a few snacks!

Medications

Please do not forget any medications you will need during the night! No medications are supplied by the sleep center.

Do These Things

Before arriving please follow these important instructions to ensure accurate testing.

Eat A Meal

Eat Before arriving for your sleep study. No food or drink other than water should be consumed during your study unless a medical condition requires it.

Shower

Please shower and wash your hair before arriving. The technologist will need full access to your scalp to place the sensor leads. Any hair pieces must be removed prior to your study.

No Hairspray

Do not use hairspray, gels, or any other products in your hair after washing it when preparing for your sleep study. Also, please do not use oils or lotions on your skin.

Remove Nail Polish

Please remove nail polish and / or acrylic nails before arriving for your sleep study.

Do Not Nap

Do not nap on the day of your sleep study! This will negatively impact the results and cannot be fixed without scheduling an additional study.

Limit Caffeine

Limit the amount of caffeine intake on the day of your study. This includes coffee, energy drinks, tea, and caffeinated sodas.

Take Medications

Take all medications as they have been prescribed. If any medication makes you drowsy, please bring it with you and take it after you are setup for the night!
